Sea of Stars Celebrates 5 Million Players with Three-Player Couch Co-op Teaser
Sabotage Studio's acclaimed turn-based RPG, Sea of Stars, has reached an impressive milestone of 5 million players this month. To celebrate, the developer and publisher have released a teaser for a new mode coming to the game: three-player couch co-op.
Dubbed "Single Player+," this new mode allows three players to journey together in Sea of Stars, maintaining the game's core turn-based mechanics. Players will engage in traversal and combat with a new "Co-op timed hits" mechanic, adding a cooperative element to the game's grand adventure. The mode is currently in development, with more details to be released soon.
Sea of Stars, winner of Best Indie Game at The Game Awards 2023, is Sabotage Studio's second game, set in the same universe as their award-winning debut, The Messenger. The RPG is inspired by classic '90s role-playing games and follows the story of two Children of the Solstice on a quest to combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off The Fleshmancer.
Congratulations to the Sea of Stars team on reaching the 5 million player milestone. The game was released last summer to critical acclaim from both media and fans. It is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One for $34.99. The game is also included in subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and PlayStation Plus' Extra and Premium membership tiers.
