Sainthood: A Cozy Quest for Faith and Friendship

Sainthood: A Cozy Quest for Faith and Friendship

Melding spirituality with strategy, the forthcoming game Sainthood offers a cozy and reflective gaming game. Slated to release this fall in 2024, the Catholic-themed video game fuses elements from African folklore into a promising new angle on faith-based gaming.

Gameplay and Setting

Players will step into the role of a nun with a mysterious past, stranded on an enigmatic island. With a 33-day time limit, they must uncover the island's secrets while helping others and strengthening their faith. The game's core mechanic revolves around decision-making, with each choice impacting the player's journey toward potential sainthood.

Unique Features

It's a great grid-based island presentation that changes according to seasons, even day and night cycles, creating an authentic meditative atmosphere. The players interact with Angel Spirits called 'Ehi' for upgrades, while at night, they face the challenge of evil spirits known as 'Shetani.' Also, the cultural elements from Kongo and their historical events have been included with tales from Africa and other saints worldwide.

Developer's Vision

With Sainthood , Bisong Taiwo aims to redefine the strategy gaming genre, steering away from violence and conquest. Inspired by titles like Final Fantasy X and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Sainthood is a game that delves into the realms of compassion, spirituality, and self-improvement.

Availability

The anticipation for Sainthood is palpable, with a demo already available on Steam and the full game set to launch in the fall of 2024. Console gamers can also look forward to an Xbox version releasing in the same season.

This represents an innovative approach to faith-based gaming, being a refreshing alternative to games with religious themes, which focus on community service and personal reflection in a cozy, strategic context.

About Bisong Taiwo
In 2020, founder, game designer and filmmaker Bisong Taiwo began creating Sainthood, a beautiful, cozy game steeped in Christian mythology, philosophical values and the evocative, sometimes eerie fantasy of titles like Zelda: Link's Awakening. By tapping into his rich expertise as a filmmaker, game designer and storyteller, Taiwo is crafting a moving, aesthetically pleasing video game experience that appeals to both religious and secular players alike.

About our mission
Most video games that deal directly with the Christian faith typically fall into the realm of parodies, making them controversial, or used as part of a larger strategy to conquer and control, as is the case with 4X games. Instead, we wanted to make a small, high-quality faith-based game that avoids the negative tropes sometimes associated with religion, and instead focuses on a positive, cozy experience that inspires players to serve and nurture their local community.
