MLB The Show 25: Everything You Need to Know About the Latest Installment

San Diego Studio is back with another exciting entry in the MLB The Show franchise, and MLB The Show 25 promises to be the most immersive and engaging edition yet. With a host of new features, gameplay improvements, and an all-new mode in Diamond Dynasty, this year’s game is shaping up to be a home run for baseball fans. Releasing on March 18, 2025, let’s dive into what makes this installment a must-play.

Road To The Show: A Deeper Player Experience

One of the most beloved modes in MLB The Show, Road To The Show (RTTS) is getting a major overhaul. Players will now begin their journey by competing in two to three High School games, followed by three to four College games during The Amateur Years. This adds more realism and immersion to your rise to the big leagues.

New to RTTS is a revamped attribute progression system, allowing for greater control over player development, including the ability to craft personalized perks. Additionally, fans will experience authentic High School and College baseball environments, complete with the sound of metal bats and the rattling of chain-link fences.

Adding to the excitement, RTTS and Player Lock now feature Impact Plays and Quick Time Events (QTEs) for all positions and baserunners, making every game more interactive and dynamic.

Franchise Mode: A More Strategic Free Agency

Franchise mode is getting a significant upgrade with an enhanced Free Agency system. This year, choices matter, consequences are real, and time is precious as you navigate a new risk/reward system for signing free agents. The added strategy brings a layer of realism that will keep fans engaged throughout multiple seasons.

Diamond Dynasty: Say Goodbye to Sets and Seasons

MLB The Show 25 is shaking up Diamond Dynasty by removing Sets and Seasons, giving players more flexibility in building their ultimate team.

The introduction of Diamond Quest—a new risk-and-reward board game-like mode—adds a fresh way to play. Additionally, a Weekend Classic multiplayer mode will bring highly competitive matchups with top-tier rewards.

For those who love team-specific content, the all-new Team Affinity Programs will let fans unlock items and players unique to their favourite MLB teams.

Gameplay Enhancements and New Tech

San Diego Studio continues to refine gameplay with hundreds of new animations for extreme realism. Expect improvements across the board, including:

  • New Rob HR animations
  • Hot Shot catches
  • On-the-run catches and tags
  • A brand-new G.O.A.T. difficulty level for the ultimate challenge
  • Ambush hitting, creating a more strategic approach at the plate
  • A new Reaction Time System to make defence more skill-based

Storylines: The Negro Leagues Season 3

The award-winning storyline mode returns, bringing the history of the Negro Leagues to life in Season 3. Once again narrated by Bob Kendrick, this mode will introduce fans to more legendary players with their unique and compelling stories.
