LEGO Horizon Adventures Brings Aloy’s World to Life in Playful New Ways – Launching November 14!
Get ready to experience Aloy’s journey like never before as LEGO Horizon Adventures launches on PS5 and PC on November 14! Guerrilla Games, Studio Gobo, and The LEGO Group have teamed up to reimagine the world of Horizon Zero Dawn in a colourful, brick-based adventure that combines the iconic story with the creativity and humour of LEGO. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how Aloy’s world was built, brick by brick, and what players can expect in this exciting new take on the beloved franchise.
Reimagining Horizon in LEGO Form
Studio Gobo’s Senior Producer Kat Woolley shared the team's excitement in adapting Aloy’s world for LEGO, combining the serious themes of Horizon with LEGO’s signature humour and creativity. LEGO Horizon Adventures brings a lighter tone, allowing players to explore Aloy’s journey with a touch of fun, playfulness, and even a bit of silliness.
Guerrilla’s Design Director, Stephane Varrault, explains: “Every character is on a quest to find family and build connections, which is something we aimed to reflect in this new adaptation.”
Building the World – One Brick at a Time
Every element in LEGO Horizon Adventures is crafted from real LEGO bricks, from machines to landscapes and even iconic locations like Mother’s Heart. Senior World Artist Lucas Bolt emphasized the challenge of recreating the natural beauty of the Horizon landscapes while keeping the charm of LEGO.
Guerrilla’s Art Director, Roy Postma, revealed that inspiration even came from official LEGO sets, helping the team imagine the Old World’s ruins in a playful LEGO style.
Creating Machines with Personality
LEGO’s Creative Lead, Frédéric Andre, shared that the design process for the machines mirrored Guerrilla’s original methods, building from a “skeleton” and adding armour plating and details. Each machine, such as the Shell-Walker, has a distinct personality and fighting style, making every encounter unique. Game Design Lead Toño Gonzalaz added, “The Shell-Walker defends its cargo fiercely, creating a fun, yet challenging, combat experience.”
Customization and Co-Op Fun
Customization is a core feature in LEGO Horizon Adventures, allowing players to mix and match outfits, including some from real LEGO sets, bringing a humorous touch to Aloy’s story. Kat Woolley noted that dressing up as a llama or pig can add a lighthearted twist to serious conversations, making every playthrough unique.
Stephane Varrault highlighted player freedom, with customizable outfits and environments allowing fans to recreate their ideal versions of iconic locations like Mother’s Heart. The game also includes co-op, letting two players join forces on the same screen or online to explore the LEGO wilds together.
