Introducing the Compact PS5 with Enhanced Features for the Holidays

Get ready for a sleeker PS5 this holiday season! In a recent blog on the PlayStation website, PlayStation has announced a new PS5 model that boasts a smaller design with 1TB storage capacity for both the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition. Additionally, an optional Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive is being introduced for the PS5 Digital Edition.

The new PS5 model claims to be 30% smaller in volume and 18% to 24% lighter compared to its predecessors. It features four distinct cover panels, with a glossy top and a matte bottom. If consumers opt for the PS5 Digital Edition, they can later purchase the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive separately for $79.99 USD.

This new PS5 model will hit stores in November in the U.S. and will gradually roll out worldwide in the following months, eventually becoming the sole available model once the current inventory runs out.

In the US the recommended retail prices for the new PS5 model, starting with the November release in select retailers are as follows; PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive at $499.99 USD, and the PS5 Digital Edition at $449.99 USD.

The new PS5 model will come with a horizontal stand included, and a new Vertical Stand compatible with all PS5 models will be available for separate purchase at $29.99 USD. No Canadian pricing has been released as of yet, but we'll keep you in the loop when it is put out!
