In a new blog from PlayStation, we learned that Arrowhead Games Studios is heating things up with the upcoming update for Helldivers 2, set to launch on August 8. This update introduces a premium Warbond known as "Freedom's Flame," which promises to deliver a range of fiery new weapons, armor, and customization options, enhancing the galactic defense experience.
Mitch Ayre, Junior Community Manager at Arrowhead, hinted that this update aims to "spark a galactic-scale inferno," equipping players with the tools to combat the relentless enemies threatening various worlds. The Freedom's Flame Warbond is designed to help players unleash chaos in their quest for liberty.
New Arsenal: Unleash the Heat
The Freedom's Flame Warbond features an impressive array of new weaponry. Among them is the SG-451 Cookout, a pump-action shotgun that fires incendiary phosphorus pellets, ideal for clearing out enemies. The FLAM-66 Torcher adds a classic flamethrower to the arsenal, projecting a stream of fire to engulf foes. For those who prefer a more portable option, the P-72 Crisper is a compact flamethrower, perfect for Helldivers on the move.
Armor and Boosters: Built for the Heat
Players can also look forward to new armor sets, including the I-09 Heatseeker and I-102 Draconaught, which provide both protection and style. These suits come with a unique passive ability called Inflammable!, offering a 75% resistance to fire damage—ideal for those who engage enemies up close. The new Fiery Drop - Firebomb Hellpods booster scorches the ground upon landing, ensuring a fiery welcome for adversaries.
Customization: Stand Out in the Crowd
Customization options are expanding with new skins, capes, and emotes. The Safety Orange skin allows players to paint their Shuttle, Hellpod, and Exosuit in a vibrant hue. The Purifying Eclipse and The Breach capes pay tribute to significant battles within the game's lore. New emotes, such as Big Stretch, Deep Reflection, and Thoracic Collision Exultation Maneuver Co-emote, enable players to celebrate their victories in style.
