The Nominees Are... The Game Awards 2024

The Game Awards 2024 has officially announced its nominees for Game of the Year. This year's competition is particularly intriguing, as there isn’t a clear frontrunner, making the nominations one of the most surprising in the event's decade-long history.

Astro Bot and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth lead with seven nominations each, including Game of the Year. Metaphor: ReFantazio follows closely with six nominations, highlighting its strong impact this year.

A notable Canadian highlight in this year's nominations is Balatro, a roguelike deckbuilding game with 5 nominations. This innovative title, developed by the Canadian studio LocalThunk, has garnered significant attention for its unique blend of poker and roguelike elements, showcasing the diverse talent in the Canadian game development scene.

Sony Interactive Entertainment stands out with a remarkable 16 nominations across its games. Square Enix and Xbox Game Studios follow closely behind with 12 nominations each, while SEGA rounds out the top publishers with 11 nods.

The Game Awards 2024 will take place on December 12 at 7:30 PM EST, live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Fans can get involved by voting through the official website and Discord bot until December 11.
