Digital Extremes Unveils Major Updates for Warframe, Including New Narrative Chapter and Content

Digital Extremes has thrilled its vast community of over 80 million players with an array of new content for its sci-fi epic, Warframe. The latest announcements include an extended gameplay demo for the upcoming narrative chapter, Warframe: 1999, set to release in Winter 2024 on all current platforms. Meanwhile, a new prologue quest, The Lotus Eaters, will be available this August, offering players an early glimpse into the narrative stakes of Warframe: 1999.

Warframe: 1999 (Winter 2024)

Warframe’s next major chapter transports players back to Earth in 1999, unveiling a grungy, alternate world filled with secrets. Team up with six iconic Protoframes to track down Dr. Entrati before the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Key Features:

• Infested 90’s Boy Band Hunts: Infested Liches, known as Technocyte Coda, parody the iconic 90’s boy band On-lyne. Voiced by Nick Apostolides (Resident Evil 4), these heartthrobs come with a hit single, “PARTY OF YOUR LIFETIME,” available on major music platforms.
• Romance System & A-List Voice Cast: Develop relationships with Protoframes using a retro instant messenger system. The cast includes voices like Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate 3) and Kevin Afghani (Super Mario Bros. Wonder).
• New Warframe, CYTE-09: A former fortune hunter, now a marksman for Arthur’s team, CYTE-09 brings his 1999 sharpshooter skills to the modern Origin System.
• Mounts, Weapons, and Skins: Traverse with the Atomicyle, capable of drifting and bullet-jumping. New weapons like Arthur’s AX-52 rifle and customizable Gemini Skins for Protoframes and Warframes will be available.

The Lotus Eaters Quest & Sevagoth Prime (August 2024)

Reunite with the iconic character Lotus in The Lotus Eaters, a prologue quest following the events of Whispers in the Walls. This update will also introduce Sevagoth Prime, an enhanced form of the dark helmsman with exclusive weapons and accessories.

Ember & Rhino Heirloom Skins

High-fidelity Heirloom skins for Ember and Rhino Warframes are now permanently available. Ember’s skin is available today, with Rhino’s set to arrive in early 2025.

Warframe: 1999 Anime Short (2024)

In collaboration with animation arthouse THE LINE, Digital Extremes will release an anime short diving deeper into the world of Warframe: 1999, expanding the narrative into another immersive medium.
