The horror gaming world is about to witness one of 2025’s biggest events as Dead by Daylight’s highly popular 2v8 game mode returns with an electrifying crossover. This time, the legendary survival horror franchise Resident Evil enters the fray, bringing terrifying new elements to the asymmetrical horror experience.
From February 10 to February 25, 2025, survivors and killers alike will battle it out in a special Resident Evil-themed 2v8 mode, featuring familiar characters, a fan-favourite map, and unique gameplay mechanics that redefine the horror multiplayer experience.

Resident Evil Takes Over 2v8 Mode
Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 Mode has quickly become a favourite among fans since its debut in July 2024. Now in its third iteration, the mode introduces Resident Evil’s horrifying antagonists The Nemesis and The Mastermind (Albert Wesker) into the mix. These terrifying killers will be playable alongside The Legion, offering a nightmarish challenge for eight survivors scrambling for survival.
With two Resident Evil-themed Dead by Daylight chapters already under its belt, this crossover is the perfect opportunity to experience the ultimate survival horror showdown. The iconic Raccoon City Police Department (RPD) will also enter the 2v8 map rotation, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle like never before.
To make the event accessible to all, every Resident Evil character will be free to play in 2v8 Mode for the duration of the event, ensuring that all players can experience the full intensity of the crossover.
New Gameplay Mechanics Inspired by Resident Evil
1. Unified Antidote for Viral Infections
Both The Nemesis and The Mastermind wield infectious abilities—The Nemesis spreads the T-Virus, while The Mastermind infects survivors with Uroboros. If both killers are selected in a 2v8 match, survivors will find a single unified antidote inside supply crates, capable of curing either infection.
2. Herbs as a New Strategic Element
A staple in Resident Evil, Herbs have been transformed into a unique gameplay mechanic exclusive to this event:
- Green Herbs heal one health state.
- Yellow Herbs remove one hook state.
- Killers can destroy Herbs for a brief movement speed boost.
This new mechanic adds an extra layer of strategy, forcing both killers and survivors to make quick decisions as they navigate the RPD and beyond.
3. Survivor Bots for Faster Matches
To reduce queue times, two Survivor Bots will be added to every 2v8 lobby, ensuring a smoother experience for all players.
New Resident Evil-Themed Outfits Arriving February 10
Dead by Daylight’s partnership with Resident Evil has brought a wave of iconic characters and legendary outfits, and this event is no exception.
Six new outfits are set to release:
- The Nemesis – Nemesis Origin Outfit (inspired by his original 1999 debut)
- The Mastermind (Albert Wesker) – New Dawn Outfit (from Resident Evil 4 Remake)
- Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, and Rebecca Chambers each receive new classic looks!
