Darkest Dungeon II Coming to Nintendo Switch This July

Red Hook Studios announced during today's Nintendo Direct that Darkest Dungeon II, their highly anticipated grim turn-based road trip RPG, will be available on Nintendo Switch starting July 15th, 2024. Pre-orders for the game are now open on the Nintendo eShop, priced at $39.99, 38,99€, and £34.00, with a special launch discount of 15%.

A Journey Through Darkness

Following its successful launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games in 2023, where it garnered nearly 15,000 player reviews and critical acclaim, Darkest Dungeon II is set to expand its reach to console players. The Nintendo Switch release coincides with the launch of the game on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, bringing all current updates and DLC along with it.

"We're thrilled to bring Darkest Dungeon II to the Nintendo Switch, offering players the chance to experience the intense strategic depth and atmospheric horror of our game wherever they go,” says Tyler Sigman, Design Director for Red Hook Studios. “The Switch's unique capabilities perfectly complement the immersive journey through the darkest reaches of our world."

Additional Content and Features

In addition to the main game, the DLC 'The Binding Blade' will also be available for Nintendo Switch. Players can opt for the Oblivion bundle, which includes both the base game and the DLC, available on the Nintendo eShop. Key updates include the addition of two new playable heroes, The Duelist and The Crusader, and a new roaming mini-boss, The Warlord. A major new campaign mode, ‘Kingdoms’, will also arrive later this year as a free content update, challenging players to race against time to defeat a monstrous threat before it annihilates the Kingdom.

Gameplay Highlights

Darkest Dungeon II invites players to embark on a harrowing journey through five distinct campaigns, known as “Confessions,” each featuring unique bosses and mechanics. With the inclusion of The Duelist and The Crusader, players can now choose from a total of 14 playable heroes. Additional features include:

  • The Altar of Hope: An extensive metagame progression hub.
  • Companion Pets: Ten pets with unique run-defining properties.
  • Difficulty Modifiers: Radiant and Infernal Flame items for varying challenge levels.
