Blast Off with Concord: Your Guide To The Open Beta

PlayStation and Firewalk Studios has announced that the Concord Open Beta is now available on PS5 and PC from July 18 to 21. Players will board the spaceship Northstar, meet the Freegunners, and engage in battles across various game modes with a 16-character roster, and PlayStation has given players some tips and tricks to your weekend of playing.

Character Recommendations and Abilities

Concord caters to players of all skill levels. Newcomers can start with Lark or Kyps for stress-free gameplay. Lark's Razor Pod Launcher and Spore Seed abilities are beginner-friendly, while Kyps offers stealth and surveillance traps. Experienced players might prefer Teo, who has a familiar military-inspired loadout and agility, making him effective immediately.

Crew Roles and Skillful Loops

Characters fall into six Freegunner roles: Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden, each designed for different play styles. Every Freegunner has two unique abilities with tailored recharge mechanisms, known as "Skillful Loops" or "Sloops," rewarding mastery of their skills.

Crew Combos and Support Items

Crew combos allow for dynamic interactions between Freegunners. For instance, DaVeers' Burnite grenade and Ignition Dart create explosive effects, while Haymar's fire abilities trigger similar reactions. Support items like Daw's Heal Pads and Duchess's Construct Walls offer strategic advantages and remain on the map between rounds.

Crew Builder and Role Perks

The Crew Builder feature lets players create custom teams based on roles and their perks. These teams can stack to enhance combat effectiveness, adding a strategic layer and encouraging adaptation during matches.

Job Board and Progression System

The Job Board provides in-match challenges that earn XP and unlock customization options. Completing these jobs rewards players for their abilities and kill combinations.
